New Bow+Arrow Options!

Happy Saturday!
I had blueberry/almond pancakes for breakfast + an iced mocha for an afternoon snack + it's game night tonight with some of my very very favorite people.
I hope yours is a good one too :)
I just wanted to pop in to share some new options in the Bow+Arrow etsy shop.

First off you can now get THREE 8x10 prints for $40!
They're $15 each folks, so that's a deal.

Also, you can now choose to get any print in the shop as a 5x7 for only $9.
Hooray for tiny prints!
But why get one 5x7 when you can get THREE 5x7s for only $25?
Perfect little gifts :)

There you have it.
Big thanks to my girl, Carina, for the fabulous graphics!
We've both got new prints coming soon so stay tuned.

Lately...

We've been eating almond flour muffins and coconut scones.
Good stuff :)
The girl's never looked so much like her mama as she does right there.
This healthy baking kick has produced some really fabulous healthy/tasty treats.
It feels good to step away from sugar but still get to have fun yummies.

I've been drawing.
New prints (that I'm super excited to share soon)!
But also fun custom stuff for lovely friends.
I really really really liked how these baby shower invites turned out!

Lil's just been doing what everyone of us wishes we could.
You know, diving into the peanut butter jar with reckless abandon.
You might be asking yourself why on Earth we just sat around and let this happen?
1) Girlfriend's been copping an attitude about eating lately & she needs the cals.
2) She's darling.
3) Hunter & I were busy eating pancakes, drinking coffee & enjoying the show :)

And we've been shoe shopping.
These lovelies were a whopping $4.99 on clearance at Target & she can't get enough of them.
They seem schmancy, I know, but you should see how they come together with striped socks, a tutu and a polka dot sweater.
We're high fashion up in here.

My heart is happy & full these days.
I am beyond thankful for all of these little moments that make up life as we currently know it.
If I'm absent around here it's because I have a very intense desire lately to just slow down & be.
Not to write or share or improve.
Just to enjoy every drop.
I know the season will come again when I'll overflow with things to talk about & stories to record.
But now is the season for reading Goodnight Moon 30 times a day, finger painting and playing with baby dolls.
It's the season for shutting out the noise and listening.
It's nice & I'm praying it last for awhile.

Lent: Farewell Facebook + Twitter

I haven't ever put a whole lot of focus and/or energy into lent.
Growing up it was always a "Catholic thing".
No joke.
My Catholic friends would give up chocolate & ice cream for a few weeks & we would tease them with ours... so rude.
Anyway, it seemed like a ritual to me more than anything.
But this year I'm feeling convicted to do some real fasting and seeking after God in this season.
May is quickly approaching & brings with it great uncertainty for the Greeno household.
Hunter's graduation equals job hunting, possible relocation, transitioning back to being home full-time?
Probably a move, talk of another babe, basically just an upheaval of any "routine" we've established.
Which, oddly enough, is what we desire & long for right now.
The point is, I need and want to spend this season asking the Lord for what he wants.
I want to ask with a pure heart, not selfish motives.

Which brings me to my main point.

In order to do this, I believe I need much more focus.
I need to demonstrate a willingness to give up things that I put far too much value on.
I'm feeling convicted to separate myself from the things of this world and to draw near to Jesus.

And so facebook, twitter, I bid you adieu until Easter.
Just the amount of stress inflicted by the typing of that sentence makes it pretty clear to me that my priorities are out of whack.
It's kind of embarrassing actually that this is such a difficult thing to give up.
I was also super convicted by Rachel this week, as she wrote about the ugly truth that our social media addictions can cover up.
That the constant need to be "connected" could possibly be discontentment with the life we've been blessed with.
Am I desiring something different so I spend my time reading about everyone else's life?
Possibly?
I pray that if that's true, it will be uncovered & that I would be refreshed and intentional with this time.

If you need me I suppose you'll have to call or email :)

Love+Gospel+The Head & The Heart

Sometimes music speaks the gospel to my heart more clearly than anything else.
And usually it's secular music doing the preaching.
Some of my very favorite bands are The Head & The Heart, Avett Brothers and Mumford & Sons.
To be honest, I don't know a whole lot about these artists' personal lives or their faith/beliefs.
What I'm quite sure of is the way their music can move my soul & stir up passion so uniquely.
Every time I experience it I'm reminded of how powerful & almighty my God is!
How dare we try to fit him into our neatly measured, beautifully decorated, "theologically sound" boxes?
He is in control.
He is redeeming this broken world through talented musicians & their beautiful work, whether they're proclaiming His name or not.
Do we believe that he's big enough to use the beauty, talent, art, intelligence, love that's all around us... whether it's done in his name or not?
If you love your neighbor, you fulfill the requirements of God's law. For the commandments say, "You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet." These- and other such commandments- are summed up in the one commandment: "Love your neighbor as yourself."Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God's law.
Romans 13:8-10
The way I see it, anything/anyone that's spreading love is spreading God's truth & gospel.
Whether they know it or not.
His redemption is happening, but sometimes I think the believers are the ones trying to follow so many rules, we're too busy to just stop love somebody.

Today this song is speaking life into me.
It's breaking my heart & helping me to seek the truth.
Inspiring me to love better.
That is the gospel.

Quinoa Stuffed Peppers (a Top Ten recipe)

Do you all have those recipes that your whole fam loves so much it seems like you make it once a week?
They're healthy, easy & quick, and most important: so so good.
Well this is one of ours.
It has made it into our Top Ten rotation in fact :)
More than likely if you come over for dinner more than a couple times you'll be having Quinoa Stuffed Peppers with us.
Hope you love them as much as us!

Quinoa Stuffed Peppers
(print it here if you like)

www.bowandarrowart.com

Ingredients:

  • 2 TB olive oil
  • 1 medium onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves, crushed garlic
  • 1 (15 oz) can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 can black beans
  • ½ can (about ¾ cup) corn
  • 2 cups cooked quinoa
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 2 tsp red wine vinegar
  • 4 large bell peppers (cut in half length-wise)
  • ½ cup grated cheese

Directions:

  • Heat oil over medium heat & add oil+onion about 5 minutes until tender.
  • Add garlic & saute for 1 minute.
  • Remove from heat & add tomatoes, beans, corn, quinoa, spices & vinegar.
  • Scoop mixture into peppers & top with cheese.
  • Arrange in an 8x8 pan & fill bottom of pan with about ½ inch of water.
  • Cover with foil & cook 40 minutes.

PS Sometimes I use rotel instead of diced tomatoes when I'm feeling extra spicy.
PPS Also I use rice cheese of course which makes this a vegan AND gluten free recipe.

Happy February {+free printable!}

Sometimes when I'm stuck in a creative rut (or just can't find much time to create things at all)...
Making pretty things to give away for free is the most refreshing & life-giving thing I can do.
Which is why I (finally) figured out how to do a free printable for you all!
You can download it and print it right off at home, to decorate for this month of loooove.

Truth be told, I was not the #1 fan of Les Miserables.
I actually didn't really love it at all.
I mean sure, I appreciated the amazing talent that goes into creating a work of art.
But I just couldn't get into the story, the music didn't move me, my life wasn't changed.
Which is fine.
Everyone else loved it with an undying passion, there's always got to be a critic right? ;)
What stuck with me most was this lyric from a song at the very end.
I just think it's lovely & it inspired me to create.
Which gives me reason enough to appreciate the movie.

I kind of think it's true.
Loving people does give us a glimpse of Love himself.
We should probably do way more loving.
Then maybe we'd see way more Jesus.
I honestly can't think of a better way to leave this place better for my kids.
