Bow+Arrow Art Debut

550

It's official! I made the big switch from Sugar Mama Bakeshop to Bow+Arrow Art!
Unlike so many, change usually makes me really excited!
I love a fresh clean start and new adventures are always fun.
That being said, I was a little hesitant to let my Sugar Mama alter ego go :)
Building my tiny little baking biz has been such a fun learning experience this past year.
I've loved it all: developing recipes, meeting amazing customers, learning about blogging and marketing.
But it's time for a change.
This post pretty much sums up why baking isn't a great fit for my family right now. It's such an on-demand craft and I'm just not willing/able to fit it in around my most important priorities.
This one shares the direction my heart has been headed for this blog.

As for the name, I looooooove Bow+Arrow Art because it encompasses all of these things into one.
First of all, this blog is about more than just baking now... Still baking. Lots, probably :) But also, doodling, crafting, worshipping, family, friends, LIFE.
Also, I know I've shared before but I'm in love love love with this poem that describes God as an archer, children as arrows and parents as the bow that must be stretched and bent for your the good of your children. It is such a beautiful picture for me.
I'm tired of doing things that don't honor God and bless my family.
So from now on that's what I'll be striving for in my shop and blog.
I've chosen the name so that I'll be constantly reminded :)

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.
{Kahlil Gibran}
