Lovely Little Whimsy: adoption necklaces & a giveaway!

Hey there. Thanks for all of the super encouraging thoughts and prayers!
I love this place and all of you :)
Which is why I have a gorgeous giveaway at the end of this post.
(Sorry, I'm no good at surprises.)
Anyway, Carina is one of my fave blog friends and she's making an appearance today.
She and her husband are adopting and get to meet their baby girl... SOON!
Check out her blog for sure. She's super fun, her kids are crazy cute, and she has a really lovely shop to boot.
I'll let her tell you about her new necklaces that are raising money for their adoption process.
I really hope you can support her sweet family.
Aaaaaaaaaand if you do happen to treat yourself (or someone special) to a lovely necklace...
You get extra giveaway entries.
So get your shop on!

Hello! I'm Carina and I blog over at a punk, a pumpkin and a peanut.
I am mama to three little rascals, lover of vintage and coffee and
chocolate, among other things.

For the last year, my husband and I have been waiting to adopt our fourth
baby. We have two biological boys, and one adopted, and feel so excited to be
adding to the sweet chaos that is our every day.
Two weeks ago we got the call that we'd been chosen to adopt a baby girl due this
August.
And we are over the moon.
We know that God is already writing our love story with this little peach
and His hand is so evident in the details. You can read more about all of that
here. The reality of adoption is that it takes a serious chunk of change to make it
happen. Like $25,000 when all is said and done.
We've saved and saved and had a little pancake breakfast to get the ball rolling,
but we are still well away from that number.
We are not ones to ask for something without offering something in return,
mostly because it makes us feel weird.
I've been making jewelry for my little etsy shop for the last few months and
after a lot of thought, I decided to design a few adoption necklaces to help make up
some of the difference.
I am dreaming big here: my goal is to sell 100. My dream is 200.
300 would knock our socks off and put a serious dent in that total.

Would you consider helping us out?
Spread the word and buy a necklace (or two)...
you'll be helping us bring our baby home, supporting adoption
and you'll even get something pretty in return!
And please come follow along on this super exciting journey -
it's sure to be an adventure!

And now for the totally rad giveaway!
Carina is giving away this gorgeous necklace to one lucky winner.
She has one just like it and loooooooves it :)
You can enter by commenting on who you would give an adoption necklace to.
Earn extra entries by: buying a necklace, tweeting, and following this blog.
Winner announced Monday.
May the odds be ever in your favor!

Pink Grapefruit Sorbet {a guest post}

Hello again! Get ready for 2 recipe posts in 2 days. Cray-zay!
You're going to get spoiled!
Doesn't really count though, because I had some help :)
My friend Ashley from Mister G and Me is sharing a fresh and summery sorbet recipe today.
Yuuuuum! It's so refreshing.
If you haven't yet, go check out her blog too.
She has the greatest party DIY ideas... and the sweetest neice :)

Hi Sugar Mama lovelies!  I'm so happy to be back guest posting today.  If we haven't met before, my name is Ashley and I blog over at Mister G and Me.  I love to share crafty tutorials, DIY inspirations, and tasty recipes.

I'm sharing a recipe for Pink Grapefruit sorbet today.  This recipe is super easy and it will make your whole house smell like fresh grapefruit and sweet, sweet goodness!  This is definitely a "make again" recipe!  Nothing is more refreshing than homemade frozen treats-- especially on a hot summer day!!

Combine zest of 1 pink grapefruit, 3/4 cup water, and 1/2 cup sugar in a small saucepan.  Bring to a boil over medium heat, stir to dissolve sugar, and boil for 5 minutes.  Remove from heat, cover, and let steep for 15 minutes.  Strain into a medium bowl; discard the zest.  Let liquid cool to room temp, then stir in: 3/4 cup fresh pink grapefruit juice.  Refrigerate until cold, then pour into an ice cube tray.    After your cubes freeze, pulse in a food processor or blender until smooth.  Enjoy!!!

I get around...

Ok, minds out of the gutter :)
All I'm saying is that you can find Sugar Mama recipes here & here today.
First, Tricia has invited me & my vanilla cake recipe over today.

One of the reasons I love to share my creations is because of the joy they can bring to someone with a restricted diet.
I still remember the first time I walked into an all gluten free, vegan bakery and was able to choose ANY fabulous pastry I wanted!
(I'm pretty sure I ate Flying Apron cinnamon rolls until I was sick but that's beside the point :) )
The other day Tricia from Mama Marchand's Nest tweeted that she was giving up gluten from a trial period and needed help.
Now we're friends!

Also, my Almond Joy Truffles are being featured by Emily at 52 Mantels!

So fun! Thanks ladies :)
(PS I just learned how to take a screenshot. Love ya google!)
