Grandad Adams

So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
-2 Corinthians 5:6-8
What a beautiful thing it it to celebrate the life of a man who was blessed with 102 years on this Earth.
A man who worked hard, loved well and brought joy to countless people.
The significance of over a hundred years of influence in one lifetime is so profound.

Somedays it's so easy to feel like my life and work is just a drop in the bucket- like maybe if I could sleep less and work more and try harder I could somehow be of more value.
But then I think about Grandad Adams and how he spent 77 years with the woman he loved; passing his values, beliefs and sense of humor to 5 children, 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and a great great grand daughter.

And I can't stop thinking that maybe the best way to honor the memories of the ones we love is to slow down a little and savor this life we're living.
Because to share our laughter and love, talents and gifts, time and energy with the world is to carry the baton that grandad ran with for over a century!

The world's just spinning
A little too fast
If things don't slow down soon we might not last.
The world's not forgiving
Of everyone's fears.
The days turn into months the months turn into years.
So just for a moment, let's be still.
